As many of you know, I am currently looking for work. Yes, me and at least 7.5% of the U.S. population. Unfortunately gigs for linguists are hard to come by, so it is a slow process. But it's ok, I came up with an idea to sharpen-up one of my skill sets: translation.
When I first started looking for work I said "no way Jose" to translation. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I need to get my foot in the door at ANY company doing anything legal, so I decided to swallow my pride and do some translation. So this is where the challenge comes in. Every day I will translate one text, up to ~1000 words. English to Spanish, Spanish to English. Heck! I will even try French to English and French to Spanish. BRING IT ON!
Last night I put out calls both on Facebook and Twitter. @geekstarter was NICE enough to ask for the U.S. tax code (answer, NOPE!), but my childhood best friend was NICER and ask for a song (hard, you know poetry family and all, but not impossible).
So, as soon as I finish up my coffee (first have to brew it) and I start translating this post I will put up 1/365 Translation Challenge!
